The 5 SOLAS Mixtape

It’s not often that I get excited about mixtapes. Most times, mixtapes are terrible. Sometimes, I find that artists use mixtapes as an excuse to put out music without having the proper accountability to make a quality product. All that to say, “Step Your Mixtape Game Up!”

On a positive note, I am actually excited to speak on my man S.O.’s mixtape entitled The 5 Solas Mixtape. Historically, the Five Solas came from the Protestant Reformation’s attempt to bring brevity to the core beliefs of reformed theology. This mixtape shares that aim and is worth downloading because it has listening value, it’s Christ-centered, it’s free, and S.O. is an artist made in the mold of real Hip-Hop.

Here are a few words from the artist himself on The 5 Solas Mixtape:

I could say, “Download this mixtape because it is free and I need downloads!” But I will not say that. I could say, ” ‘The 5 Solas Mixtape’ is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, so it is a must have!” Yet again, I will not say that. I could even say, “Download it because Mr. Lions and Liars, Sho Baraka, is  featured on it!” But who cares!

On June 29th, I dropped it free online. I did it for a few reasons:

• To glorify God through my gifting
• To make my music accessible to the world via the internet, social websites, blogs, etc.
• To create free, God-centered, music that puts Jesus Christ on display with a sprinkle of understandable theology (hence the title and interludes)

In remaking familiar tracks, some notable ones such as “Word,” “God Is Like” and “I Don’t Pack A Matic,” my goal was to create a body of work that would be a blessing to all.  And I truly do hope you are blessed by it.
